Some of my artworks will always be there in my imaginary archive, they “pop up” in my head every now and then, because they are dear to me. These are the works that I want to show on my blog in the “collections”-series, as an homage to their owners.
The people who “live with” my drawings, paintings and sculptures are cherished by me, I am and will always be gratefull to them. It is a precious experience to me when I’m allowed to take my work to its new surroundings myself, only then -it seems to me- I can appreciate it as an independent piece of art.

Zij die houden van-, zich ontfermen over- en willen leven met mijn werk worden door mij dan ook op handen gedragen. Het blijft een bijzondere gebeurtenis om het werk in de nieuwe omgeving te mogen bekijken en het meestal pas dán als een op zichzelf staand iets te kunnen zien.

EDDY=WATERWERVEL

In fluid dynamics, an eddy is the swirling of a fluid and the reverse current created when the fluid flows past an obstacle. The moving fluid creates a space devoid of downstream-flowing fluid on the downstream side of the object. Fluid behind the obstacle flows into the void creating a swirl of fluid on each edge of the obstacle, followed by a short reverse flow of fluid behind the obstacle flowing upstream, toward the back of the obstacle. This phenomenon is most visible behind large emergent rocks in swift-flowing rivers.

A current, in a river or stream, is the flow of water influenced by gravity as the water moves downhill to reduce its potential energy. The current varies spatially as well as temporally within the stream, dependent upon the flow volume of water, stream gradient, and channel geometrics. In tidal zones, the current in rivers and streams may reverse on the flood tide before resuming on the ebb tide.

Een stroomversnelling is een hydrologisch verschijnsel dat bestaat uit het deel van een waterstroom dat door verlies van hoogte over een korte afstand (bijvoorbeeld door rotsen) versterkt wordt in snelheid en niveau en meestal turbulente stromingen tot gevolg heeft. Stroomversnellingen kunnen vaak worden herkend aan een versmalling van de stroom en aan rotsen die boven het water uitsteken. Als stromend water over en om de rotsen heen golft, ontstaan luchtbellen, waardoor het water een witte kleur krijgt en wildwater doet ontstaan.

‘De tekening moet niet willen winnen.
De tekening moet durven verliezen.
De tekening is er niet om de kijker te overtuigen
van zijn bestaansrecht.
Tekeningen mogen op sommige momenten begeesterd
en krachtig en jubelend jodelend zijn,
op andere plekken binnen dezelfde tekening
mogen zij gerust inzakken en slap monomaan
voor zich uit krassen of ongeinteresseerd
heen en weer geveegd zijn tot de punt versleten was.

Tekeningen zijn niet groots maar nog minder klein,
misschien wel diffuus of nurks van verveling.
Binnen de tekening worden nalatigheden niet weggepoetst
om tot een produkt te komen dat staat als een huis.
Dat huis is immers niet waar’.
