Winnie Teschmacher laat weten aan degenen die hebben gereserveerd:

“Het is bijna zondag 13 juni, de Distillatie van Florette Dijkstra, Frank van den Broeck en Marjolijn van den Assem in De KetelFactory, Schiedam.
Het wordt er goed vol.
Speciaal voor deze dag hebben we extra ruimte in orde gemaakt. Dat betekent dat de lezingen en gesprekken plaatsvinden op de gebruikelijke 1e verdieping. Tegelijkertijd kan de rest van het publiek op de 2e verdieping alles volgen via life streaming op een groot beeldscherm. We hebben een audio-videoteam dat zorgt voor een perfecte weergave waardoor niemand iets hoeft te missen.
We beginnen met de Distillatie om 11.00 uur. Dus kom op tijd.
Met tussendoor een heerlijke zomerse lunch van Marlies Lageweg dompelen we ons onder in de wereld van Florette, Marjolijn en Frank.
Rob Riemen geeft een lezing, er zijn drie  videoportretten gemaakt en Carel Blotkamp gaat met de drie kunstenaars in gesprek.
Het programma eindigt rond 15.30 uur. Daarna is er nog de mogelijkheid om een kopje thee te drinken en met een nieuwe visie de prachtige tentoonstelling te bekijken.

Some of my artworks will always be there in my imaginary archive, they “pop up” in my head every now and then, because they are dear to me. These are the works that I want to show on my blog in the “collections”-series, as an homage to their owners.
The people who “live with” my drawings, paintings and sculptures are cherished by me, I am and will always be gratefull to them. It is a precious experience to me when I’m allowed to take my work to its new surroundings myself, only then -it seems to me- I can appreciate it as an independent piece of art.

De werken in mijn denkbeeldig archief en de collecties waarin zij zijn opgenomen zijn een steun en toeverlaat. Zij die houden van-, zich ontfermen over- en willen leven met mijn werk worden door mij dan ook op handen gedragen. Het blijft een bijzondere gebeurtenis om het werk in de nieuwe omgeving te mogen bekijken en het meestal pas dán als een op zichzelf staand iets te kunnen zien.

Sgelare kwam tot stand dankzij ondersteuning van de Stichting Harten Fonds voor Beeldende Kunst en Literatuur, ‘s-Gravenhage.

Sgelare werd op 26 mei 2010 gepresenteerd op de Art Amsterdam bij
RAM Rotterdam.

“Sgelare” is onderdeel van het project: De taal van de dooiwind.

About SGELARE:

Eine verschneite Seele, der ein Thauwind zuredet…
(the wind that thaws ice and snow, tenderly convincing a frozen soul to melt)

I found these poetical lines in Friedrich Nietzsche’s Nachgelassene Fragmente from 1888.
Nietzsche thought that being amidst the eternal snow in Sils-Maria during the summer, opposed to being affected by the influence of the Mediterranean culture of Genova during the winter, had made his thinking more passionate.
Because he felt like his body and spirit were thawed by the South, he called his style of writing in Genova: “the language of the wind that thaws ice and snow”. It became a hymn to life, a song of praise to the Mediterranean way of living, just as colourful as the South itself.

Nietzsche described the language of the wind that thaws ice and snow like this:
“Is it any wonder that in the process much that is unreasonable and foolish comes to light, much playful tenderness that is lavished even on problems that have a prickly hide and are not made to be caressed and enticed?”
Which is a great example of his lean and powerful way of thinking, of his dancing mind.
By following Nietzsche’s footsteps in Genova and in Sils-Maria, not only imaginary but also literally, I have tried to experience the language that thaws ice and snow.
During my trips I stumbled upon two completely different waterfalls, which I have embraced.
In addition to The Seelenbriefe-project, which took me 7 years to complete, I now present a selection of drawings, paintings and paper sculptures, expressing the first part of my personal encounter with the wind that thaws ice and snow.
This book offers a glimpse of the works created between 2007 and 2010.

Sgelare = the process of thawing:
* a period of warm weather during which ice and snow melt.
* a relaxation of reserve, restraints, or tensions.

Some shelter may be offered behind the waterfall:

De meeste watervallen zijn het resultaat van het uitslijpen van een rivierbedding gedurende vele jaren. Meestal is de ondergrond een behoorlijk harde steensoort met daaronder een zachtere. Het over de rand stortende water zal de zachtere onderlaag onder de harde laag wegslijpen. De harde bovenlaag zal veel langzamer afbreken. Hierdoor blijft steeds een scherpe rand bestaan die zich echter langzaam stroomopwaarts verplaatst.

De meeste rivieren worden vlak voor een waterval breder en ondieper en onderaan ontstaat meestal een diepe poel door de kinetische energie van het vallende water.
